This small, 5×7, book is a daily devotional for those of us who want to become closer to Jesus Christ. Sarah Young divides this book into months with a date on each selection. There is also a scripture reference at the end of each passage. Each devotional is written from the Savior’s perspective.

I really did not like this book very much. I thought I would, but I think there was too many ideas that I did not agree with. I believe that Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father are 2 separate beings and that we pray to Heavenly Father in Jesus’ name. Throughout the book there are references to praying to Jesus. Other then the discrepancies of my personal beliefs, there were a few daily devotionals that hit home to me. When trying to gain a closer relationship with the Savior this book may be a good choice. It is also nice that the passages has been broken down into daily readings. I think it is especially good that there are scripture references at the end of each day’s reading. This will give those that want to study the scriptures a way to correlate with their reading. Jesus Calling would be a great gift to give a loved one as well.

Jesus Calling is written by a missionary named Sarah Young. This book actually took me a little longer to read than my previous book. I went into this with a little apprehension since it was another “devotional book”.

Once I began reading, it was fabulous. It is written in the first person just as if God is really speaking to you. It makes it much more personal. At the end of each day’s devotion, she includes the scripture that God spoke to her through.

I believe this is a great book for someone who is just recently saved and desires a close walk with God. It will open their eyes to just what God wants for their lives.

Jesus Calling is a day by day prayer journal by Sarah Young. She used to write her own journal but then one day decided to listen more carefully to the Lord and write what He spoke to her. In between these pages is what the missionary Sarah Young believes God is telling her.

I’m not exactly religious so this book didn’t help me very much at all. Though I would recommend it to a friend because it seems like it would be very enlightening book to someone that is deeply religious.
